The Acadia Parish School Board approved transitioning to a four-day work week effective with the 2023-2024 school year during a special meeting Thursday night. After that vote, board members were asked to decide whether Monday or Friday would be the “non-instructional” day each week. Cheri Baggett, principal at Church Point Middle School — cited results of parishwide surveys that overwhelmingly favored Friday as the “day off.” Despite those numbers, the board voted 5-3 to designate Monday as the non-instructional day.
