Studies have shown that people living in neighborhoods that have abandoned and uninhabitable old homes like this one are at a high risk of being affected by criminal activity. CAB (Citizens Against Blight) and The Crowley Post-Signal will continue working together in 2024 to increase awareness and rid the city of this problem. Anyone needing assistance in removing such blight from their property is urged to contact Emily Stoma with CAB at 337-523-6044.

The new banners hung along Historic North Parkerson Avenue recognize Crowley as the home of the John Melvin University Millers. Different banners note the various athletic teams at the university — baseball, softball, football, soccer, etc. — along with the academics offered there. JMU was founded in Crowley in 2021 as a Christ-centered university in Louisiana. The first classes at John Melvin University were held in the fall of 2022.
