A tractor-trailer rig veered off the side of the pontoon bridge near Estherwood Monday morning, rerouting traffic from Louisiana Highway 91. The rig appeared to have been too heavy for the bridge, causing the driver to lose control, according to Louisiana State Police, who added that details of the crash are still incomplete. Hazmat officials were called to the scene to determine if any diesel or oil leaked from the truck engine. No injuries were reported. The bridge remained closed as at press time on Monday.
