Fire Chief Louis “Buddha” Romero Jr. (holding box) and members of the Crowley Fire Department were delivering Christmas boxes before the holiday when a situation arose that required their immediate attention. Some will call it a coincidence but firefighters would like to think it was a Christmas miracle. They were on their last stop to drop off a box when it quickly turned into a EMS situation. A neighbor of the man to whom the box was being delivered said she hadn’t seen or heard from him in a couple days. After several attempts to communicate with him through a locked door, fire fighters noticed something was wrong and forced their way through to find the elderly man on the floor in need of medical assistance. Assistance was rendered and MedExpress was called and transported the man to the hospital. Here, the firefighters make a delivery to Ms. Helen’s Soup Kitchen. Shown are, from left, Capt. Jonathan Habetz, Driver Alex Pousson, Capt. Scott Hoffpauir, Robbie Guidry and Al Leonards from Ms. Helen’s, Chief Romero, Driver Gaston Myers, District Chief Ricky Heinen and Driver Todd Hoffpauir.
