Tuesday shooting leaves one injured
A man found with multiple gunshot wounds at an Interstate 10 off-ramp Tuesday night said he was shot eight miles away in Crowley.
According to Chief Jimmy Broussard, the Crowley Police Department received a call about shots fired in the 1700 block of North Avenue I at 9:07 p.m. Tuesday.
Responding officers could find no evidence of a shooting.
Broussard said as officers were leaving they were notified by Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Deputies that they were with a male subject at I-10 Exit 72 westbound who had been shot several times.
Police officers joined the deputies at the exit where the female driver of the vehicle said the incident had occurred in Crowley.
Broussard said officers returned to North Avenue I and were able to locate multiple shell casings. The area was secured and processed by investigators.
The victim, who was identified only as not a Crowley resident, was transported to a Lake Charles hospital were he was reported in stable condition.
“Our officers are interviewing people and investigating all leads,” Broussard said.
Anyone with information concerning this shooting is urged to call the Crowley Police Department at 783-1234 or Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish at 789-TIPS / 789-8477.
