Stolen car, property recovered as a result of deputy’s keen eye

A deputy’s keen eye has led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle as well as possibly solving several burglaries in the Maurice area, according to Sheriff K.P. Gibson.
On Monday, Oct. 12, a deputy came across a vehicle which had been reported stolen. After confirming the vehicle to be stolen, the deputy conducted a stop on the vehicle.
Once deputies secured the occupants without incident, they continued their investigation.
Deputies completed an inventory of the stolen vehicle and discovered property which was discovered to have been stolen from the Maurice area.
Deputies met with Maurice authorities and confirmed that the property within the vehicle had been reported stolen from their area.
“Our deputies work hard to prevent and resolve criminal activity in our parish. I am proud not only of this successful arrest, but of all their efforts for our citizens,” Gibson said.
Arrested were Rodney Lagrange III, 21, of Lafayette, and Devante Lagrange, 25, of Lafayette.
Rodney Lagrange was charged with possession of stolen property
Devante Lagrange was charged with possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana, introduction of contraband into a penal facility.
