P.J. committees to meet; ambulance ordinance back on agenda
Once again, the Acadia Parish Police Jury’s Ambulance Committee will take a shot at finalizing a revised ordinance regulating the two services permitted to operate in the parish
The committee is one of three scheduled to meet Tuesday night in the third-floor meeting room in the parish courthouse.
Peter Joseph, chairman, along with Richard Faul and Robert Guidry have been working on the ordinance with attorney Glenn Howie for months, even since the police jury voted to allow MedExpress to operate ground ambulances here.
If the committee approves this most recent draft, it will be presented to the full jury for introduction at the Tuesday, Oct. 8, meeting.
A public hearing on the proposal will be held prior to final adoption.
Also this Tuesday night, the jury’s Airport Committee will meet to discuss updates to the current hangar leases at LeGros Memorial Airport in Estherwood.
The Legislative Committee is scheduled to discuss levying fee rates for electrical permits on new and rental units in the parish.
Committees can take no binding action but may make recommendations to the full jury for consideration.
The meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. and are open to the general public.
