Council introduces ordinance to change meeting date

The Crowley City Council adopted a resolution introducing an ordinance for consideration at the next regular meeting that would change the day of its regular monthly meeting.
The council currently meets on the second Tuesday of each month. If adopted, the meeting would move to the second Wednesday of the month.
The council also passed a conditional use permit for MedExpress Ambulance Service located at 922 N. Avenue G. Although the council approved the permit, they gave conditions to MedExpress when dealing with sirens due to the station being located in a residential location.
In addition to passing the conditional use permit for MedExpress, the council also passed two other conditional use permits for Anthony Clement for apartment buildings located at 721 N. Avenue F and 721 N. Avenue E.
In other business, the council approved plans and specifications and authorized the advertisement for bids for the 2019 city-wide drainage improvement.
The city, at the request of the Crowley Main Street Board, agreed to co-sponsor “Witchy Way” on Oct. 31. “Witchy Way” will be held between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Trick-or-treating will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and “A Taste of Crowley” on Thursday, Nov. 7.
Mayor Tim Monceaux reported the sales tax is experiencing a 4.68 percent decrease and the sewer user fees is experiencing a 3.05 percent decrease.
The next regularly scheduled committee meetings will be held on Wednesday. Oct. 2, at 4 p.m. The next regular city council meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m.
