IRF Association fills board vacancies, elects new officers
The International Rice Festival held its Annual Membership Meeting recently during which members voted to fill six vacancies on the IRF Board of Directors.
Elected to serve on the board were: Ronda Richard (three-year term), Josh Spell (three-year term), Kevin Spell (three-year term), Tessa Richard (two-year term), Gilles Piron (one-year term) and Suzy Webb (one-year term).
These six board members join the remaining members Julian Leblanc, Chad Monceaux and Connie Nutt.
The 2019 board of directors also named officers who will serve as the festival’s Executive Committee during the coming year. The positions were elected through nominations made by the current board of directors at the Feb. 4 meeting.
Together, the board has elected Josh Spell as general chairman for the 83rd International Rice Festival.
Spell has been a festival volunteer for more than 20 years, serving as parade chair and general co-chairman.
Connie Nutt was chosen as general co-chair.
A past IRF president, Nutt has been involved with the festival her entire life and currently serves as queen contestant transportation chair.
Filling the role of secretary/treasurer will be Tessa Richard.
She has volunteered with the queen’s contest for 20 years and currently serves as the chair of this committee.
The position of member-at-large will be filled by Julian LeBlanc, who serves as one of the sound stage chairman.
Chad Monceaux will serve as past general chairman. Monceaux served as the general chairman of the 81st and 82nd festivals and currently holds the position of entertainment chair.
The position of festival coordinator will be filled by Shanna Morgan.
Shanna was elected to the position in April of 2018.
