Official start of Mardi Gras season marked with a toast
THE POST-SIGNAL / Danette Bourque
Members of the Crowley Town Club’s Krewe de les Dames recently hosted a cocktail party in honor of Cimmer’s Court of 2016 to signify Twelfth Night and the official opening of the Mardi Gras Season. The event was attended by members of the Krewe de les Dames and their spouses or guests along with the Court of 2016 and their guests. In keeping with tradition, all attendees were asked to wear something from their respective costumes from past Mardi Gras Balls. A toast to the royalty and court, amusingly reflective of the 2016 Mardi Gras Ball, “Cimmersonian: Masquerade at the Museum,” written by Krewe de les Dames member Ellen Dailey, was delivered by Krewe Captain Katie Chiasson in honor of the 2016 court members. Those on hand for the toast included, from left, Dailey, Nick Vincent, Colby Pommier, Kenny Lucero, Yasser Balbesi, Rodney Lucas, King Cimmer LXI Jay Suire, Queen Dr. Suzan Croughan, Gina Trisler, Nicole Cannon, Amanda Dupre’, Fay Istre and Chiasson. This year’s Mardi Gras Ball will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Rice Festival Building. Tickets must be purchased in advance through the official website: www.ktrcarnivalball.ticketleap.com/62. Information may also be obtained by calling the Crowley Town Club at 783-1432.
