The Catholic Youth Leadership Award for the Diocese of Lafayette was presented by the Knights of Columbus at a banquet held on Feb. 25 at the Cathedral Hall of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Alayna Hebert, second from right, a senior at Notre Dame High School, was chosen as the female recipient of the CYLA for the Diocese of Lafayette. Hebert will now be competing at the state level against all winners from each of the seven Dioceses in Louisiana. Garrick Ronkartz II, center, a senior at John Paul the Great Academy in Lafayette, was chosen as the male runner-up recipient of the CYLA award. On hand for the presentation were local chapter members of Sacre’ Coeur Council #5499 Crowley, Amanda Cormier and Bernadette Cormier, and Diocesan Administrator Anthony Vice.
