Notre Dame’s Blake Smith slides safely into home Saturday during the Pios’ 10-0 victory over Holy Savior Menard in the quarterfinal round of the Division III playoffs at Miller Stadium. The Pios will now take on No. 4 St. Thomas Aquinas at 10 a.m. Wednesday in a semifinal contest on Field 41 at Sulphur’s McMurry Park.
With their backs against the wall Saturday in an elimination game, the Notre Dame Pios got just the spark they needed from a very unlikely source.
Notre Dame’s Nicholas Gautreaux and Church Point’s Olivia Bundy brought home the hardware Friday evening.
The Midland Lady Rebels were youthful to say the least entering the 2020-21 prep basketball season, boasting a number of freshman starters.
