Willie Mack Istre

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Estherwood for Willie Mack Istre, 85, of Morse, who entered peacefully in eternal rest at home on Jan. 18, 2019, surrounded by his family.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Barre, will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Sunday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Istre Cemetery.
Willie Mack was born in Mermentau Cove on July 28, 1933, and a resident of Morse all of his life.
To cherish the memory of Willie Mack are Lillian Leger Istre, his wife of 62 years, and his children, Bryan Istre of Baton Rouge, Lynette Istre Lacombe and her husband Gary of Gonzales, Cedric Istre of Morse, Amanda Istre of Morse and Janice Istre LeJeune and her husband Peter of Estherwood; and grandchildren, Quincy LeJeune, Thomas LeJeune, Nathaniel Lacombe and Michael Lacombe.
Willie is preceded in death by his son, Anthony Mack Istre; parents, Moise and Eleanor Stutes Istre; brothers, Blaise Istre, Dalton Istre, Mason Istre, Daniel “Reed” Istre and Merlyn Istre; and sisters, Lula Istre Stanley and Nemez Istre Martin.
Pallbearers will be sons, Bryan Istre and Cedric Istre; grandsons, Quincy LeJeune, Nathaniel Lacombe and Michael Lacombe; and godson, Phillip Istre. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandson, Thomas LeJeune, and sons-in-law, Peter LeJeune and Gary Lacombe.
The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Paul Stringfellow. A special thanks to Krystal and Melissa for their loving, caring hands and hearts for the quality of care and compassion given to our Papa, as well as the staff and nurses at Lamm Family Care Home Health and Hospice.
