Suzanne Marie Broussard

Suzanne Marie Broussard passed away peacefully on Jan. 21, 2025, at the age of 54, in her home.
Born on Jan. 18, 1971, in Pulaski County, North Little Rock, Arkansas, she is survived by her mother, Lydia Broussard; great-uncle Alvin Broussard; her brother Gregory Broussard and wife Constanza Erenhaus; aunts Jean Theriot, Ashley Broussard and Monica Broussard; her nephews, Skylar Navarre, Trevor Navarre, Ignacio Broussard, and Santiago Broussard; and her niece, Alisa Navarre.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Joseph Broussard; grandmother, Una Guidry Menard; grandfather, Joseph Noble Broussard; great-grandparents, Charles and Delzan Guidry and Clayus and Luisa Marie Broussard; uncles Milford Broussard, Frank Munoy Jr., Lupe Munoy, Charles Nelson, and Richard Nelson; sister, Lena Broussard Navarre; and fiancé, Peter Bement.
Suzanne Marie Broussard was born with cerebral palsy, but with the support and love of her family and friends, she was able to live a full and independent life. She was a very determined and resilient person who knew what she wanted in life and worked towards it.
As a young woman, she attended college at UL in Lafayette, took computer programming at a trade school, and later ran a small online design business.
She loved going out with her sister before her passing and listening to live music, which is how she found love in her fiancé, Peter Bement.
Peter was always able to make her laugh and smile, and Suzanne felt that he was an angel sent from God for her. Suzanne loved animals and always made an effort to care for animals in need.
Her first dog, Maggie, was injured and lost when Suzanne found her. Determined to care for her, the family came together and built a fence around Suzanne’s house so Maggie could be looked after. She later adopted Lily and Chloe and cared for her large cat, Sadie.
Family gatherings were often held at her home, where many treasured memories were made thanks to her helping to bring the family together.
Suzanne made an impact and bonded with every person she met: her neighbors, her caretakers, anyone who took the time to sit and have a conversation with her gained a lasting relationship with her. She always took the time to check in, even if someone moved or drifted out of her life; Suzanne always made sure to reach out and catch up.
If she knew someone was in need or struggling, she always made an effort to help in any way she could. When she had the opportunity, she loved the challenge of a new experience and loved telling stories of going parasailing. She was a very loving woman who will be missed greatly by her family and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. at Duhon Funeral Home, 1529 Crowley-Rayne Hwy., Crowley, 337-783-1395.
