Lucy Hebert Kibodeaux
Rayne / Crowley - Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 4, at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley for Lucy Hebert Kibodeaux, 78, who died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at her residence in Rayne.
Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
Rev. Jonathan Janise, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Crowley, was the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and conducted the funeral services.
Lucy was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for 60 years. She was a 1964 graduate of Rayne High School.
She loved cooking Sunday meals for her family and enjoyed planting flowers especially lilies. Her favorite roses were yellow.
She spent her life caring for others including, her father-in-law, brother, nephew, husband, grandson and other grandchildren, and sister-in-law. Her gift and talent was to care for others.
She loved the game Wheel of Fortune and to drink her two beers every night. She had a great sense of humor and was very funny. She was especially close to her best friend Barbara Savant. They enjoyed many very funny road trip adventures together.
She enjoyed going to the casino with her husband. She was a joy to be around. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, friend, grandmother and great grandmother. She was especially close to her grandson Patrick Cormier; granddaughters, Ariel Mire Broussard and Gail Cormier; and great-grandson Mason Broussard. She loved all her great grandchildren, Juliet, Daphne, Evelyn Mire from Overland Park, Kansas; Mason Broussard from Youngsville; and Seth, Breanna, Jonathan, Gabriel, Jamie and Kaleb Cormier of Kaplan.
A special thanks to Dr. Robert Aertker, Lamm Hospice and her nurse Heather Marissa, and her sitters Katrina and Elizabeth who took excellent care of her.
Survivors include her two daughters, Pebbles Kibodeaux Mire and spouse Corwin Mire, and Anissa Kibodeaux; five grandchildren, Patrick Alan Scott Cormier amd spouse J. Ryan Hudson, Arlin Michael Mire and spouse Sarah Lawlis Mire, Ariel Mire Broussard and spouse Ryan James Broussard, Gail Marie Cormier, and Casie Renee Cormier; 10 great grandchildren; her two siblings, Pricilla Hebert Soileaux and spouse Calvin Soileaux, and Larry Hebert and spouse Charlene Hebert.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Glen Ray Kibodeaux; parents, Irvin Hebert and Lucy Leger Hebert; brother, John Mervin Hebert and spouse Stacia Hebert; sister, Joann Hebert Abshire and spouse Ervin Abshire; and baby brother, Roger Hebert.
Pallbearers were Pebbles Mire, Corwin Mire, Arlin Mire, Patrick Cormier, Ryan Broussard and Mike Trahan.
A Rosary was prayed Friday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne.
The family requested that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 3, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Jan. 4, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
