Kenneth Dale Guidry

ESTHERWOOD - A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Estherwood for Kenneth Dale Guidry, 76, who passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.
Father Andrew Schumacher, pastor of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, officiated for the services.
Visitation was held Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. A rosary was led by the Knights of Columbus at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Interment was in Estherwood Cemetery.
Kenneth was born Dec. 22, 1947, in Crowley, and resided in Estherwood. He graduated Midland High School in 1965.
Kenneth joined the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana University. He spent 38 years as executive director of Southwest Acadia Consolidated Housing Authority.
He was an active member of Knights of Columbus Council 4791, a past Grand Knight, and a 4th Degree Knight.
Kenneth was a jack of all trades and enjoyed fishing, cooking, dancing, listening to music, and entertaining; but what he loved most was spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his three children, Shannon David Guidry and wife Joshlynn of Estherwood, Gerad W. Guidry and wife Sonia of Estherwood, and Kendra Guidry Helo and husband Kermit of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Karen G. Klumpp and husband Keith of Estherwood, and Denise G. Gravot (and Glen) of Lafayette; two brothers, Michael Guidry of Lafayette; and Dennis Guidry and wife Cathy of Estherwood; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Guidry of Crowley and Mary Jane Guidry of Lafayette; and six grandchildren, Bryce Anthony Guidry, Zachary Colin Guidry, Londyn Clare Guidry, Charlotte Helo, Emma Helo and Olivia Helo; his spouse of many years, Mary Alice Sizemore Guidry of Estherwood; and his special friend, caregiver, and partner, Pamela Granger.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Laryman and Audrey Broussard Guidry Sr.; three brothers, Laryman “Toad” Guidry Jr., Richard “Ricky” Guidry and Timothy Guidry; three grandchildren, Logan Wayne Guidry, Aiden Scott Guidry and Kaden David Guidry; his maternal grandparents, Paulite and Edmay Clostio Broussard; his paternal grandparents, Dave and Grace Gary Guidry Sr.; his brother-in-law, Frank Gravot; and his niece Kammie Rae Klumpp.
Serving as his pallbearers were Brent Hains, Jeremy LeLeux, Miguel Rivera, Buddy Murray, Keith LeLeux and Greg Villejoin.
Honorary pallbearers were Michael Guidry (brother), Dennis Guidry (brother), Keith Klumpp (brother-in-law), Stephen Broussard (godchild), Randy Rivera (godchild), Bryce Guidry (grandchild), Zach Guidry (grandchild) Kermit Helo III (son-in-law), Michael Guidry Jr. (nephew), Robert Guidry (nephew), Craig Guidry (nephew), Kyle Guidry (nephew) and Todd Guidry (nephew).
The family would like to thank the entire medical staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for their care and support.
Arrangements were entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.
