James “Jimmy” Anthony Meyer

Roberts Cove - Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 16, at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove for James Anthony Meyer, 69, who died peacefully Monday, July 14, 2025, at his residence in Roberts Cove, surrounded by family and friends.
Interment was in the St. Leo IV Cemetery in Rayne.
Rev. Paul Broussard, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette, was the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and conducted the funeral services.
James was an Eagle Scout and a member of St. Leo IV Catholic Church and St. Leo IV Holy Name Society in Roberts Cove.
Survivors include his wife, whom he adored, Patricia Meche Meyer; two daughters, Lauren Meyer and Lindsey Meyer Tautkus and son-in-law Joseph Tautkus; two granddaughters, Josie Anne Tautkus and Jane Marie Tautkus, all of Roberts Cove; two sisters, Mary Ann Meyer Reiners and spouse Herman Reiners of Roberts Cove, and Kathleen Meyer Viator and spouse Larry Viator of New Iberia; three sisters-in-law, JoAnn Meyer of Roberts Cove, Pearl Meyer of Crowley, and Betty Mitchell; numerous sisters and brothers on the Meche family side that he loved and a very special friend, Greg Zaunbrecher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Kasper Meyer and Anna Marie Habetz Meyer; three brothers, Joseph “Dutch” Meyer, Henry “Fats” Meyer and Leonard “Johnny Boy” Meyer; two sisters, Antoinette Meyer and Margaret Meyer Simpson.
A Rosary was prayed by the St. Leo IV Holy Name Society Tuesday, July 15, at 6:30 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne.
The family had requested that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 15, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 16, from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
