The families requested that visitation be held Wednesday from 9 a.m. to the time of service at the Rice Festival Building.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Ja’Vonta was born Jan. 6, 1997, in Crowley. He was a graduate of Crowley High School in 2017.
Ja’Vonta loved law enforcement and was currently a detective for the Rayne Police Department. He loved spending time with his family. His love of singing and making unnecessary noise worked on everyone’s nerves, especially his mother. Every time she told him to stop, he would say “what you going to do, hit me” and, of course, she would try. She would then find herself roughed up and in handcuffs and put in time out; she is going to miss that.
He was always his mother’s Mr. Fix-It, but he never could complete the task and there were always extra pieces left out or objects on backwards. Christopher, his father says it hard to say bye, but he is so glad that he gave us a new reason to live when you brought Amber and Caroline into our lives. You accepted Renay, Lauren and Pa”Tons as your family. He protected us, loved us, and made us laugh. We could call you anytime of the day or night and you were there for us. He will miss fighting with pepper and his cooking classes.
He is survived by his parents, Enola Martin and Chris Flugence; his stepfather, Jamison Melanson Sr.; his stepmother, Carla Renay Lyons; six siblings, Ophelia Flugence, Chris Morgan, Jawaski Landry, Kristopher Martin, Travon Thomas and Kelian Martin; his stepbrothers, Jamison Melanson Jr. and Tyreke Melanson; his grandparents, Ophelia and Butch Augustus, Curley Andrew and Aleeta Flugence, Gertrude Harmon, and Aaron Harmon; his step-grandmother, Mary Melanson; his aunts and uncles, Joyce Harmon, Alzora Comeaux, Dayna and Michael Handy, Andrew Flugence, Steven Flugence, Jalessa Flugence, Jemella and Kevin Williams, and Jarvis Flugence.
Ja’Vonta is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Frieda Harmon, Enola Martin; and one uncle, Gilbert Willis.
Amber was born June 18, 1998, in Crowley. She graduated from Crowley High School in 2016 and continued her education by studying at LSUE and the University of Phoenix. She was three classes away from getting a Degree in Education.
While in school she substituted for many of the schools in Acadia Parish. Amber had a love for softball and jumped at any chance to play.
She is survived by her parents, Scott and Cecile Celeste Davy; her birth father, Terry Vincent and his mother, Scarlet Vincent; her sisters, Sarah Davy and her fiancée Matthew Breaux, and Olivia Davy and her companion Camerin Trahan; her grandparents, Elia Roy, Danny Primeaux, Maria Dosser, Anthony “Bubba” Abshire and Miranda Abshire; her great-grandmother, Janice Broussard; her aunt, Sabrina Primeaux; her uncles, Gene Roy and wife Linda, Sean Roy and wife Stacey, and Dean Roy; and her great-aunts, Cecile Gary and Amy Gary.
Amber is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Roger Vincent and John Roy; her great-grandparents, Evelia “FeFe” Primeaux, Aurelian Primeaux, Mary and Herbert Davy, Leroy and Anniebell Gary, Billeaux and Norma Roy; and a cousin, Elizabeth Guidry, who Caroline did pageants for in honor of Breast Cancer.
Caroline was born Dec. 1, 2021, in Eunice. Softball was passed down by her mother although she only played for one year but was always asking when she was going to play again.
She loved watching Bluey and Baby Shark with her “Pop Pop” as she called Scott. She loved to swim and jump off the sofa. She entered many pageants, and she held the Ambassador Title for two years in a row for breast cancer. Caroline also was the Cajun Paws Ambassador. She, like her mother, had a love for animals. Caroline was always full of life.
Amber and Ja’Vonta had a special love for each other. They loved Caroline more than anything and gave her everything she ever wanted. Both always helped anyone however they could. They loved to fish and were especially goofy and passed that trait down to Caroline.
The most important thing is that they had a strong devotion to God. All three will be missed by all who loved them and their communities.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.
