Wendell John Thibodeaux Sr.

EGAN - A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, July 17, at 1 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church – Egan for Wendell John Thibodeaux Sr., 69, who died Monday, July 14, 2025, at 12:53 a.m.
Fr. Jude Thiery, pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, officiated for the services.
The family had requested visiting hours Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m and on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A rosary was recited on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. by Wanda Esthay, Wendell’s sister.
The burial was in Sensat Cemetery in Egan.
Wendell had been a resident of Iota since 1994 and served as owner/operator of W&W Repair since 1998. He was a skilled mechanic who could fix just about anything.
He was a family man who never missed a chance to watch his grandchildren play sports. Wendell was content to be at home, surrounded by his family and always had a joke to make them laugh.
Wendell is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine Broussard Thibodeaux of Iota; one daughter, Ammorette Thibodeaux of Iota; three sons, Wendell Thibodeaux Jr. and wife Farrah of Egan, Gary Thibodeaux and wife Jacqueline of Breaux Bridge, and Christopher Thibodeaux and wife Shaunda of Eunice; 10 grandchildren, Colby Wilson, Kyle Thibodeaux, Andrew Thibodeaux, Brennen Monceaux, Braylen Monceaux, Aidan Thibodeaux, Gavin Thibodeaux, Bailee Thibodeaux, Brylee Thibodeaux and Boston Thibodeaux; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer Wilson and Weston Wilson; one sister, Wanda Esthay and husband Cecil of Evangeline; and three brothers, Ricky Thibodeaux of Lake Charles, Kenneth Thibodeaux of Lake Arthur and Larry Thibodeaux and wife Rhonda, of Morse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mildred Thibodeaux of Jennings; three brothers, Gerald Thibodeaux, Johnny Thibodeaux and Scott Thibodeaux; two sisters, Sandra Faye Thibodeaux and Angela Marie Thibodeaux; and one godchild, Ricky Thibodeaux II.
Serving as pallbearers were Brennen Monceaux, Aaron Thibodeaux, Kenneth Thibodeaux, Colby Wilson, Kyle Thibodeaux and Andrew Thibodeaux.
The family entrusted Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home, 309 Duson Ave., Iota, with funeral arrangements.
