Born on Dec. 12, 1927, in Acadia Parish, she was a proud long-time resident of Scott before relocating to Lafayette nearly 45 years ago. Alongside her husband, she raised three children whom they cherished deeply and were incredibly proud of.
She and her husband, J.B. Sr., founded Lafayette Steel Erector, Inc., in 1957. She played an integral role in fostering the growth of the business in the early years, from handling the books to feeding their work-family and establishing relationships with decades-long business partners.
A passionate hostess, she dedicated countless hours to cooking and preparing meals, as she and her husband took great joy in serving others. Her fried shrimp, crawfish bisque, and seafood gumbo became beloved staples at every event they hosted, always bringing people together to enjoy good food and great company.
She truly enjoyed the finer things later in life like feeding her ducks, nightly episodes of Wheel of Fortune, a Miller Lite in the afternoon on her swing, a good game of cards with her friends and regular trips to the casino. Most of all she deeply loved her family and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Michael Prudhomme II, Rourke Feerick, Gaige Prudhomme, Payton Prudhomme, Mark Hanna, Josh Istre and Chris Rutledge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brock Thomas Istre, Henry Feerick, John David Feerick and Walker Feerick.
The Giftbearers will be her granddaughters, Maegan Hanna, Cecily Istre, Theone Rutledge, Grace Dugas and Josie Prudhomme. Lectors will be Estelle Prudhomme and Mollie Feerick. Musical selections will be performed by vocalist Maggie Nickel, great-niece.
