Claire Doré, Acadia Parish Library archivist and outreach librarian, reprised her role as “tour guide extraordinaire” recently, walking through historic downtown Crowley and talking history with students from Excellence Homeschool. The students walked along North Parkerson Avenue with “Miss Claire” and learned all about the history of Crowley and Acadia Parish as well as the important role the library’s archive plays in the field of historic preservation. The students took a moment to pose for a photograph on the steps of Jaguar Energy Services, originally the Bank of Acadia and later Crowley Building and Loan. Educators in Acadia Parish interested in scheduling a similar tour of downtown Crowley, or are interested in having an archivist or librarian visit your classroom for a lecture or story hour, should call the library at 337-788-1880.
