Sale ends annual Jr. Livestock Show
Acadia Parish’s annual Junior Livestock Show and Sale was once again a success.
Saturday saw the close of the three-day event, with a large number of local 4-H and FFA members selling their market animals at auction.
This 2019 grand champion market animal winners and the purchasers of those animals at yesterday’s auction were:
• Claire Morgan, grand champion steer, purchased by Cart Cattle Co. for $5,500;
• Miller Copeland, grand champion hog, purchased by John McManus/Reed Gas for $2,000;
• Leah Guardia, grand champion lamb, purchased by Dr. John Fuselier for $1,200;
• Dustin Zaunbrecher, grand champion goat, purchased by Gatti’s Pizza for $1,300; and
• Colt Monceaux, grand champion broiler, purchased by Hoffpauir Farms for $250.
The morning was opened with the Parade of Champions, and the crowd on hand for the auction was standing-room only.
All of the winners of the parish show will go on to compete in the Southwest District Livestock Show set for Jan. 31 - Feb. 2 at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles.
