Rayne Beautification Board begins new city-wide project

Flags available for local businesses

RAYNE - Established in 1987, the Rayne Beautification Board has continued to provide the city of Rayne with unique and successful projects enhancing the city’s known title as “Frog Capital of the World.”
The Board’s most recent project takes a step in a different direction, but one that will enhance the city’s main street and business district.
“The Beautification Board has been thinking about this project for a long time,” state project chairman Becky Servat. “The flags are in and it’s time to add them to the downtown area for everyone to take pride in our community.”
The Board’s latest project is the addition of large U.S. flags to be added to the front of Rayne businesses, with the historic downtown area the first being eyed.
“Our first order of 50 of the large flags has been delivered,” Servat continues. “We are supplying the beautiful, large 3’ x 5’ flags for Rayne businesses to proudly display during special times of the year.
“We have made arrangements with Mayor Robichaux and the city for the installation, as well as displaying and care of the flags throughout the year.
“The flags will be on display during patriotic times of the year, like Veterans Day or 4th of July.
“We hope that our streets will eventually be lined with the beautiful flags and remind everyone of the sacrifices our veterans have made, not only for our community and country, but for all citizens around the world.”
Businesses interested in receiving a free U.S. flag are invited to mail the attached entry form to Becky Servat, 609 Irene Street, Rayne, LA 70578 or give her a call at 581-4550.
