Lalande withdraws from November election

RAYNE - One of the three candidates vying for District 5’s representative of the Acadia Parish School Board has withdrawn his name from the November 6 election.
Incumbent David Lalande officially withdrew from the race last week, giving up a seat he has retained for over five years.
Lalande was sworn into office in May of 2013 to complete the uncomplete term of Roland Boudreaux, who retired to pursue the office of Rayne mayor.
During the 2013 regular election cycle later that year, Lalande also claimed a win over Blaine Harmon for the school board seat.
The two remaining candidates for the November election in District 5 are Steve Jones (R) and Elaine “Mama Wolf” Sias (D), both of Rayne.
District 5 encompasses the entire city of Rayne and surrounding areas.
