Cadien Toujours’ boucherie returns on Saturday after two-year absence

Cadien Toujours, a group dedicated to the preservation, advancement, and education of Cajun French culture is holding a boucherie in Mermentau Cove this weekend for the first time since 2019.
The event will take place Saturday, Jan. 15, in the “barn” at 1174 LaFosse Road in Morse. Organizers say they will “put out a few signs, but a GPS or Maps app will get you there.”
A $10 entry fee for those 17 and older will cover food, beer, music, and dancing. Admission is free for children 16 and under and for musicians who bring instruments.
Entry fee will cover all food. There will be $2 beer and free soft drinks and water. No ice chests will be allowed.
Gates will open at 7 a.m. Pork skins and cracklins will be ready first thing in the morning, followed by jambalaya and gumbo around lunch time along with other traditional Cajun boucherie dishes.
Some seating will be available but attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Bubba Hebert and the New Morse Playboys from 1 to 4 p.m.; Seth Spell and Cajun Strong from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m.; and Dustin Sonnier from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.
“This is a family friendly event,” organizers say. “Not only is it a family friendly event, we encourage you to bring your children to learn about these traditions.”
