Iota second baseman Peyton Dupuis tags out a runner Saturday during the Bulldogs’ 14-11 loss to the Iowa Yellow Jackets in a Class 3A quarterfinal contest. The Bulldogs finished the season with a record of 29-9.
The Iota Bulldogs made a good run at it, but the Iowa Yellow Jackets just had too much firepower.

Notre Dame’s Blake Smith slides safely into home Saturday during the Pios’ 10-0 victory over Holy Savior Menard in the quarterfinal round of the Division III playoffs at Miller Stadium. The Pios will now take on No. 4 St. Thomas Aquinas at 10 a.m. Wednesday in a semifinal contest on Field 41 at Sulphur’s McMurry Park.
With their backs against the wall Saturday in an elimination game, the Notre Dame Pios got just the spark they needed from a very unlikely source.
