Plush Petals, located at 714 N. Parkerson Ave., received the Civic Beautification award. Their front flower beds include lantana, angelonia, vincas, blue plumbago and sego palms. Celeste Klumpp, left, who was on hand to receive the award from CGC member Saja Hoffpauir, says she has enjoyed seeing all of the butterflies, bumblebees and humming birds that the beds have attracted.

The Garden of the Month award was presented to Nelson and Joyce Broussard, far left and far right, by CGC member Saja Hoffpauir, center. Their beds and yard have a wide variety of plantings, including chrysanthemums, lantana, begonias, daisies, ferns, liriope, Christmas cacti, pentas, blue plumbago, Mexican petunias, shrimp plants and bougainvilleas.

Crowley Garden Club announces October awards

The Crowley Garden Club recently presented its Garden of the Month and Civic Beautification awards for October.

The Crowley Garden Club presented the Civic Beautification Award for the month of September to The Bank at 1311 N. Parkerson Ave. The Civic Beautification award is presented to businesses that exhibit pride in the community and try to instill pride in others in the community. The Garden of the Month Award was given to Kermit and Sue Menard, whose residence is located at 304 E. Fourth St. Frugé presented the award to Kermit Menard. The club strives to recognize gardens that exhibit pride in ownership and promote interest in nature and responsible stewardship of our natural resources.
