Shooting investigated near Rayne High School

RAYNE - Rayne Police Chief Carroll J. Stelly advised that his patrol and detectives division are continuing to investigate a shooting that occurred the evening of Friday, October 11.
Shortly after the Rayne High / Eunice High football game ended at Rayne High School, shots were reported fired at 9:41 p.m. on Stadium Drive, away from the stadium and not on school property.
Officers working security at the game responded and discovered several vehicles parked along Stadium Drive were struck with bullets.
Local police were assisted by Eunice Police officers who were in attendance for the football game to lock down the stadium area.
Officers then received a call that a gunshot victim was being treated at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley. Detectives responded to the hospital where it was learned that the victim was shot on the corner of Lyman Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive in Rayne.
Shortly after the incident, an individual was arrested Friday evening.
On Monday, Oct. 14, Rayne Police officers arrested a second individual with charges related to Friday night’s shooting incidents.
Aaron Redeaux, 19, was charged with one count of attempted second degree murder and booked into Acadia Parish Jail.
Detectives believe the two incidents are connected and are continuing to interview witnesses and suspects.
