Legal or Illegal
The following scenario comes from California and was sent to me by a friend. There are so many problems facing the country, this one probably doesn’t rank very high on the totem pole but it deserves mention.
Subject: JOE LEGAL vs. JOSE’ ILLEGAL
You have two families: “Joe Legal” and “Jose’ Illegal”.
Why all the interest in Edward Edwards?
Edwin Edwards - Still fascinating after all these years!
The new authorized biography of former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards went on sale this week. In three days, the first run of 10,000 books was completely sold out. And there are pre orders for 10,000 more.
Tax in perspective
New data recently released by the Tax Foundation reconfirms the fact that the residential property tax burden in Louisiana is the lowest in the nation. The Tax Foundation is recognized as an unbiased source of the most accurate and up-to-date tax information in America. The foundation recently released results of its study of the three year average (2006-2008) of residential property taxes in U.S. counties with populations of 20,000 or more.
Medical care "costs"

Dismantling USA
By Thomas Sowell
Just one year ago, would you have believed that an unelected government official, not even a Cabinet member confirmed by the Senate but simply one of the many “czars” appointed by the President, could arbitrarily cut the pay of executives in private businesses by 50 percent or 90 percent?
Did you think that another “czar” would be talking about restricting talk radio? That there would be plans afloat to subsidize newspapers-- that is, to create a situation where some newspapers’ survival would depend on the government liking what they publish?
Why Louisiana needs a single board of higher education
Louisiana’s excellent colleges and universities are being held back and Louisiana taxpayers are being short-changed by the way we choose to govern higher education.
We don’t have too many schools, in my opinion. We have too many schools that try to do the same thing.
