Catholic bishops oppose Obama care plan

Tourist Commission names B&B owner as new member-at-large

The directors of the Acadia Parish Tourist Commission selected Charlotte Miller, operator of La Maison Pointe aux Loups Bed and Breakfast and LaMaison Gifts, to fill a two-year term as a member-at-large on the Commission during their meeting March 11. Miller was one of three nominees for the post.
Miller will fill the seat being vacated by Fran Bihm of Rayne, who has served two years in the position.
Confirmation at St. Theresa Church
CONFIRMATION SERVICES were conducted by Bishop Michael Jarrell of the Lafayette Diocese for 21 candidate at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in Duson on Tuesday, March 9.
Suspect arrested after running over relative
Wednesday, March 17, troopers with Louisiana State Police Region 2 detectives arrested Lisa Broussard in reference to a disturbance that occurred on March 15, at 153 Paulette Lane in Crowley.
During the investigation troopers learned Broussard drove to her mother’s house which had burned in the early morning hours of March 15. When she arrived at the house, she was approached by a relative, Rebecca Deville.
Deville and Broussard got into a physical altercation while Broussard was still in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
Rayne Police seek armed robbery suspect
Crimestoppers of Acadia Parish and the Rayne Police Department are seeking the public’s help in locating a wanted person who committed an armed robbery in Rayne on Friday March 12.
An arrest warrant for armed robbery was issued for Garrett Glen Andrus, B/M, Dob 7/17/1987, 5’3”, 165 pounds, 112 Landry Street # 4, Loureauville.
Bond was set on Andrus at $50,000.

LDWF agents rescue Acadia hunter
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agents found and rescued a lost hunter experiencing hypothermia along the east side of Bayou Des Cannes near Iota in Acadia Parish on the evening of March 13.
