You'll be fined for loud music
Judge Cunningham issues reminder
With the increase in the number of complaints for loud music violations, Rayne City Court Judge James M. Cunningham, III would like to make the public aware of the penalties for these offenses.
The court’s policy on a first offense loud music violation is $200.00 plus costs of court or to serve 60 days in the city jail.
On a second offense, the fine is $300.00 plus costs of court, as well as serving a minimum of 15 days in the city jail to a maximum of 60 days in the city jail.
On a third offense violation, the defendant is to pay a fine of $400.00 plus costs of court and to serve up to 90 days in the city jail.
Recently a third offender was fined, ordered to serve time in jail and his stereo system, including amplifier and all speakers were confiscated and removed by Rayne City Police from the offending vehicle.
Please be considerate to others and obey the law regarding these offenses or severe consequences will follow, says Judge Cunningham.
