NCWC restrict water usage
A new water conservation plan has been adopted by the North of Crowley Water Corporation (NCWC).
As of July 1, 2009, water users will no longer be allowed to water gardens or lawns by hose or sprinklers between the hours of 5 and 10 p.m. from June 1 to Sept. 15. Also, they will no longer be allowed to fill pools or use water for recreational purposes. This policy will be in effect each year between June I - Sept.15.
Anyone caught using the water for these purposes during these times will receive a penalty of $75.00. The customer will be notified by letter of the penalty and it will be added to the monthly bill.
A board spokesman said, "Water is a precious resource and with the recent droughts and heat levels we are forced to take this measure for the best interest of all of the water customers of NCWC."
The board discussed the conservation plan at length on June 25. Board members include Sandra LaCombe, Mayo Credeur, Lorella Richard, Lloyd Stakes Jr., and Lawrence Cramer.
