Elridge “Pop” Myers, Jr.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 14, 2010 ,at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Estherwood for Mr. Elridge “Pop” Myers, Jr., 63, who passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010, at the LSU Intern Hospital in New Orleans at 1:52 a.m.
Survivors include his wife, Mary T. Myers of Estherwood; four daughters, Nicole and husband, Kevin Biddy, of Livonia, Connie and husband, Jay Sims, of Estherwood, Elizabeth and husband, Kirk Newman, of Mermentau, and Rhonda Fontenot and George Richard of Rayne; one son, Kenneth Fontenot of Rayne; two brothers, Hillard and wife, Marla, Myers of Estherwood, and Russell and wife, Vickie, Myers of Crowley; two sisters, Shirley and husband, Carl Daigle, of Estherwood, and Sheila and husband, Johnny Istre, of Mermentau; and eleven grandchildren.
Mr. Myers was preceded in death by one son, Sonny J. Myers, and his parents, Elridge Sr., and Iris Myers.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Fontenot, Richard Myers, Kevin Myers, Denny Isbell, Blaine Morgan and Garrett Guillot he also had two stand ins, Corey Mier and Rhett Myers.
“Pop” was a former worker of Crown Drilling in Breaux Bridge.
He was a man that never met a stranger. He was willing to help anyone in need. Elridge was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back. Always with a smile and he never complained.
He was an avid motorcycle rider. Pop and his Harley made many miles together. He lived; he loved; he rode. If he could have one last message to leave behind it would be, “Ride hard, live free”.
Visitation began at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, until 10:00 p.m. The funeral home reopened at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday with viewing until time of services.
Burial was in the Estherwood Cemetery under the direction of Duhon Funeral Home, L.L.C.
