Birthday party held for Mable Allen
CROWLEY – A birthday party in honor of Mable Allen was held to celebrate her 95th birthday on Saturday, October 9, 2010. The joyous celebration was held at the Martin Luther King Center in Crowley.
There were approximately 150 attendees that included family, friends and special acquaintances from various cities and states. Special guests for the evening was the honoree’s long time best friend, Lena Byers of Crowley. Out of town guests traveled from Eunice, and as far as Los Angeles; Memphis, Tenn.; Houston; League City, Texas; San Antonio; Port Arthur, Texas and Baytown, Texas.
The theme for the evening’s event was “Tiffany blue gift boxes.” The room was adorned with turquoise and white linens. Elegant centerpieces for each table consisted of a Pilsner vase with freshly cut gladiolus and assorted greenery.
The birthday cake was a four-tiered Tiffany blue cake accented with white bows meticulously prepared and decorated with the greatest of care and artistry by “A Marie’s Event Planning” of Pearland, Texas. The cake was the focal point for the spectacular dessert table which consisted of specially designed cookies, assorted candies and pastries.
Select family and friends spoke individually of Mable’s love and dedication to her family and praised her as the greatest mother, friend and mentor to so many. Her years of wisdom, humor and wit are untouchable.
Mable’s 95th birthday celebration was hosted by her ten children: Glen Thomas of Beaumont; Leslie Allen of Crowley; Carol Lean Weston of Lake Charles; Lucille Barriere of Houston; Deola Collins of Missouri City, Texas; Blaze Allen of Houston; Alzena McNeil of Pearland; Kermit Allen of Crowley; Adrean Glasper of Jackson, Miss. and Nathan Allen of Chesapeake, Va.
